Cruelty-Free Subscription Boxes For A Guilt-Free Beauty Fix
Every beauty guru has their vice, be it plum lipstick, designer perfume, or hair masks. The problem is, though, we’re all closeted hoarders and addicted to casual visits to Sephora that end in upwards of $100 spent on restocks and products we’re just, you know, curious about. There’s no harm in seeing what’s out there, but when you’re bathroom cabinets are stocked with balms and shampoos that don’t actually work for you, that’s when you really have an issue.
Subscription boxes are our saving grace that way. Generally speaking, most services charge somewhere in the ballpark of 20-30 dollars per month, and ship you a range of samples to luxury-size products to try. The best part is, if you love it, you keep it, and if you hate it, you won’t be too hysterical to toss it, or hand it off to a friend because you’re not monetarily invested. Either way, it’s a win-win but, still, we can do better.
At Prête, we value the lives of our furry babies and friends, which means we’re always on the lookout for not only the best in hair and cosmetics, but for products that are made cruelty-free. It turns out, there are a number of subscription services that are proud to label themselves cruelty-free, sending the cleanest, and environmentally-friendly products to the doorsteps of beauty buffs who are also fighting to end animal cruelty. Below, we’ve listed a few of our favorites so that you can get your monthly fix while simultaneously giving back.
Good Being, from $9.95 per box
Good Being, in my opinion, is a real gem of a subscription. Not only is there an option to receive a mini version of the box for just shy of $10, but their website doesn’t leave anything up to questioning. They reassure customers that every product is thoroughly reviewed for both quality, and the morals behind the brand. Each package, valued at about $45-$65, includes 4-5 items that are approved by guest experts like holistic health practiconers and green beauty writers.
Love Goodly, $29.95
I first came across Love Goodly when the bi-monthly service teamed up with none other than Alicia Silverstone back in 2016. I’d categorize the box as a “lifestyle” enhancement, featuring all sorts of products from cosmetics to skincare, hair care to oral hygiene, as well as accessories and snack items. What’s more, no subscription goes unnoticed. For every purchase, the company donates to a good cause, like Farm Sanctuary.
Petit Vour, from $18
I think cruelty-free brands are often fictionalized as indie brands with cheap packaging, but this is absolutely false. Petit Vour is defying this stereotype with their luxury-curated subscription that can easily be customized to your preferences. Create a profile, and you’ll receive a variety of makeup, hair care, body, and skincare products.
