So...It Turns Out You Need *3* Dry Shampoos

So...It Turns Out You Need *3* Dry Shampoos

First there was dry shampoo—it quickly became a staple in our gym bags, on our top shelves, and in our suitcases. Then, naturally, there were powders, and sticks, and pomades. Short of requisite restocks, and maybe one or two texture variants, though, we didn’t know we needed different multiples of shampoo.

According to cool-girl mainstay IGK, though, we might.

The brand just launched two new formulas for a total of three that are basically, in concert, a suite of dry shampoos for every hair type, and need. As it turns out, dry shampoos offer cleansing at different levels—with the standard ranging between 1 and 8 percent.

JET LAG, Invisible Dry Shampoo—the original formula, has remained the same, except for a packaging upgrade. It offers the lightest cleanse of the bunch with a 1% concentration of active cleansing powders.

It also contains cleansing powder and finely milled volcanic ash to help refresh and lift dirt and oil without leaving hair dry. "Jet Lag is perfect for someone with a sensitive or dry scalp, fine hair or for someone who’s doesn’t have too much dirt or oil, maybe they’re only a day out from washing," Grenia explains

DIRECT FLIGHT Multi-Tasking Dry Shampoo is the medium option—after all, we're talking about the Goldilocks of dry shampoo, here.

It has 3% active cleansing powder and uses turmeric and charcoal to lift dirt and buildup while it absorbs oil. (Basically, it's a detox drink in a dry shampoo). "People are loving Direct Flight because it adds volume and texture to the hair while it cleanses, so it’s good for a little lift," Grenia explains. "Direct Flight is great for someone with a normal scalp, medium hair, or who has a little dirt and oil but doesn’t need a heavy dry shampoo," he explains.

Finally, FIRST CLASS Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo is the most intense level.

With a whopping 7% concentration of active cleansing powders, this is the formula to turn to when you are well overdue for a wash. It uses charcoal to detoxify, eliminate odors and absorb even the heaviest oil. It works to lift dirt and buildup while absorbing oil and sweat so it actually cleans your hair. White Tea Powder helps soothe the scalp, which you’ll know can be necessary when you’ve gone one day too many sans wash. "First Class is for someone who has an oily scalp, thick hair or has a lot of dirt and oil, either from being a week out from shampooing or from doing a sweaty workout class,” Grenia explains.

Of the full collection, he notes, "For a long time, women have been shopping dry shampoo as 'one-size-fits-all,' now you can choose the right dry shampoo for your hair type, scalp type, and lifestyle." Sounds good.
